The design of The Platinum Wick keeps the fragrance from touching the hot catalyst and being burned up. Preventing the fragrance from being burned allows more to escape into the air producing stronger, longer lasting quality scent lingering long after the lamp has been cut off. The old stone burner absorbs the fragrance. Much of it comes into direct contact with the hot catalyst which burns it up destroying the note definition and leaving less in the air.
